Tempeh Bouquet

Serves 3

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 lb. mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz tempeh, cut in 1/2" squares
  • 1 teaspoon bouquet garni herbal seasoning mixture or your favorite seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon tamari soy sauce
  • 1 cup water or vegetable broth
  • 1 carrot, cut in 1/2" slices

Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat oil in a skillet. Add mushrooms and onions and sauté 5 minutes. Add tempeh, sprinkle with bouquet garni and tamari and sauté another 5 minutes. Add 1 cup water or broth, cover skillet, and simmer for 10 minutes. Transfer contents and carrot slices into an 8 X 8" baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes. Serve over pasta or cooked grains.
